Construction is hitting the road in Kaimuki

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The city is driving forward on a new rehabilitation project for 22nd Avenue in Kaimuki.

The project will enhance the roadway by installing a new support system with aggregate and concrete to help protect against erosion. The roadway shoulder will also be cleared during the project.

On Wednesday, Sept. 10, construction will begin. Work hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. The construction is expected to be finished in two months.

You can expect contraflow traffic during some parts of construction, but workers will not be directly in the roadway. Drivers should also expect detours, lane shifts and possible delays.

Officials want to advise residents of potential dust and noise due to the construction and that they are doing what they can to minimize the impacts.
