Crews working to restore power to 3K in parts of downtown

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Hawaiian Electric crews are currently repairing electrical service for Chinatown and downtown Honolulu customers who experienced a power outage shortly before 9 p.m. Monday. The power loss occurred due to a fire that damaged underground cables at multiple sites. Approximately 3,000 customers are without of power.

This outage affects a smaller area of downtown Honolulu compared to the outage that happened on June 13, according to HECO.

HECO said most office buildings, including government buildings and courthouses, have power.
