Dept. of Ag looking to fill 44 positions by bringing applicants to job sites

HONOLULU (KHON2) — If pests and bugs don’t bother you, then there may be a place for you at the Department of Agriculture and Biosecurity.

The department will hold a rapid recruitment job fair to grow its staff.

There are a variety of positions to fill:

  • Biosecurity inspectors (formerly known as Plant Quarantine Inspectors)
  • Entomologists
  • Plant Pest Control specialists
  • Property managers (who manage state ag leases)
  • Engineers (for irrigation systems)
  • Veterinarians
  • Aquaculture specialists
  • Research statisticians
  • Office assistants

Officials said they’ve worked to modify some fo the job descriptions to help broaden the applicant pool, especially for positions that relate to pest and invasive species prevention, management and control.

Filling these positions is a priority so the Department can strengthen current programs and support future activities in the fight against invasive species.

Some who may not have qualified for these positions before may now meet the minimum qualifications.
