HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) held a groundbreaking ceremony Friday morning for its first high-rise rental project, Hale Mōʻiliʻili, in partnership with Stanford Carr Development.
The event took place at 9:30 a.m. at the site of the former Stadium Bowl-O-Drome bowling alley, located at 820 Isenberg Street in Honolulu.
Governor Josh Green, DHHL Director Kali Watson, Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi, and several Honolulu City Councilmembers, including Calvin Say, Andria Tupola, and Val Aquino Okimoto, were in attendance, along with Stanford Carr, president of Stanford Carr Development.
The Hale Mōʻiliʻili project will feature a 23-story tower with 271 rental units, exclusively for native Hawaiian beneficiaries on DHHL’s waitlist.
The initiative is a key part of efforts to revitalize the area while honoring the historical importance of the site.
