HONOLULU (KHON2) — A woman in her 70s was rescued from the Diamond Head Crater Trail on the evening of November 24, 2024, after becoming ill and unable to descend the trail on her own.
The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:54 p.m. and dispatched six units with 17 personnel to the scene.
The first unit arrived at 11:05 p.m. and established command, while a second unit ascended the trail on foot.
A nearby landing zone was also secured in preparation for air operations.
At 11:27 p.m., HFD personnel reached the hiker, conducted a medical assessment, and provided basic life support.
She was airlifted to the landing zone, where she was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 11:41 p.m. for further care.
All HFD personnel were accounted for, with no injuries reported.
