HONOLULU (KHON2) — Honolulu police will be setting up impaired driver checkpoints throughout Oahu this spring as part of their ongoing effort to keep the roads safer.
The checkpoints will be held at various, unannounced locations and times between March 1 and April 30, 2025.
This includes busy times like St. Patrick’s Day, Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole Day and Easter weekend.
The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) is reminding everyone to never drive under the influence.
Driving under the influence is considered a criminal offense. In Hawaii, it can lead to serious penalties, including fines, license suspension, mandatory alcohol education programs, and even jail time.
Since September 2024, HPD officers have been conducting impaired driver checkpoints each week as part of the federal 52/12 sobriety checkpoint program, which will continue through September 2025.
