KALIHI (KHON2) — Last night, Oct. 4, an electric scooter rider was left in critical condition after being involved in a motor vehicle collision in the Kalihi area.
Official reports stated that at approximately 7:48 p.m., a 51-year-old male riding an electric scooter lost control of his vehicle for an unknown reason while traveling eastbound on North King Street.
The 51-year-old male collided with a roadway stanchion, causing him to be ejected onto the raised center median, officials said.
EMS transported the 51-year-old male to an area hospital in critical condition as a result of the collision.
Officials reported that the electric scooter rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. Speed, drugs and alcohol have been determined not to be a contributing factor to this collision.
Investigation is ongoing.
