FANG-tastic fun for keiki at HallowZOO

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Keiki got to spend the day creeping and crawling with all different kinds of critters at the Honolulu Zoo’s SPOOK-tacular event.

The Honolulu Zoo Society hosted the HallowZOO event, which had a variety of activities throughout the zoo that were fun, educational and fang-tastic.

The SCARE-venger Hunt gave participants the chance to explore the zoo like never before as they roamed from each exhibit, solving mysteries and collecting stamps.

The Haunted Habitat Trail took trick-or-treating to the next level. Behind 15 biome-themed doors, keiki got to collect candy and knowledge on a variety of topics.

“There is an educational aspect to this, too. Everything that we do here has education and conservation, so that we can teach about animals and wildlife, as well as have a good time for the community,” said Community Engagement Manager for the Honolulu Zoo, Shelby Carlos.

The zoo’s conservation partners hosted special booths and Halloween-themed hands-on activities that were spooky but super informative.

“HallowZoo is more than just Halloween fun,” said Mary Benson, Executive Director of the Honolulu Zoo Society. “It’s a way for families to connect with animals, learn about conservation, and make magical memories together. We hope to inspire the next generation of wildlife stewards—one spooky step at a time.”

HallowZoo activities were included in the regular admission price from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, Oct. 26.
