HONOLULU (KHON2) — A pedestrian was killed in a motor vehicle collision early Monday morning on Kamehameha Highway in Pearl City.
The Honolulu Police Department said the crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. when a 61-year-old man driving eastbound collided with a male pedestrian who was walking through traffic lanes, outside of a marked crosswalk.
The pedestrian has not yet been identified.
The driver continued on after the collision but reported it shortly afterward.
The pedestrian was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries.
At this time, authorities say neither speed, drugs, nor alcohol appear to have played a role in the crash.
The Honolulu Police Department’s Traffic Division is investigating the incident.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the division at (808) 723-3413.
