Firefighters airlifted an injured hiker in Waiʻanae

HONOLULU (KHON2) – On Saturday, Oct. 4, at around 12:04 p.m., the Honolulu Fire Department responded to an injured hiker off the Kaʻena Point Trail in Waiʻanae.

The incident occurred when a woman in her 20s found herself unable to make it down the trail on her own.

The first unit arrived at 12:22 p.m., where six units staffed with 18 personnel were sent to the scene.

The HFD’s Air 1 responded to the woman on scene, where basic medical care was received and the woman was airlifted safely back to the landing zone.

At 1:14 p.m., Medical care was transferred to EMS.

There were no reported injuries from HFD personnel.
