HONOLULU (KHON2) — Firefighters extinguished a brush fire that broke out in Kokee on Saturday night, with no injuries or damage to structures reported.
The blaze was first reported at approximately 8:15 p.m. near mile marker 6 along Kokee Road.
Crews from the Waimea Fire Station were the first to arrive on the scene, finding a fire approximately 100 yards by 100 yards in size in a western valley off the road.
Firefighters from the Hanapepe Fire Station, along with an on-duty battalion chief, also responded to the incident.
The fire was contained and knocked down within 15 minutes, and personnel remained on site to ensure all hot spots were fully extinguished.
The scene was cleared by just before 10 p.m.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
