HONOLULU (KHON2) — October 31 is 15 days away, and that means it’s time to start gearing up, whether that be on costumes, accessories, or even some safety features.
But as with every year, the season will come with a rush of shoppers, meaning lots of supplies won’t last for long.
“Now for the past couple of years, due to the economic conditions, I know it’s been tough for some people, they’ve been procrastinating,” said Party City Hawaii Vice President Andrew Shum. “They’ve been going back more and more, but this is the time we’re definitely seeing the uptick every single day, the sales for Halloween is increasing.”
Luckily, the rush hasn’t hit quite yet, and most stores across the island are still relatively stocked. But some items are going to go a lot quicker than others.
“The classics are always going to be a hit, so like the ninja or the pirate,” said Shum. “We also have a lot of costume accessories, and one of the things that more and more is the case is that people are building their costumes purely from accessories.”
According to Party City employees, some examples of this can include “Harry Potter” and the “Wicked” witches.
But here in Hawaii, Party City is also making sure to stay true to some local favorites that you won’t want to miss out on.
“All the movies and shows and games that were popular this year, so in Hawaii, Lilo and Stitch, we have Lilo and Stitch for both adults and for kids, so that can be a fun family costume,” said Shum. “We also have a very broad selection of decor, and I think that article is unique throughout the island.”
Other Halloween items featured in Party City include a wide range of masks, Halloween-themed birthday supplies for all the October kids, and costumes from other popular media such as “Squid Games,” “Scream,” “Demon Slayer” and “Ghostbusters.”
