Hawai’i Football Final – Arizona reaction

The latest episode of Hawaii Football Final, a Hawaii Sports 2Night production, broke down the University of Hawai‘i football team’s first loss of the season on the road at Arizona.

KHON2 Sports Director Rob DeMello and analyst Rich Miano, a former UH player and coach who spent 11 seasons in the NFL — reviewed the Rainbow Warriors’ 40-6 setback in Tucson while looking ahead to what’s next for Timmy Chang’s squad.

Against the Wildcats, Hawai‘i struggled on both sides of the ball as Arizona, a Big 12 program, showed its strength by averaging six yards per play on offense and forcing five turnovers on defense. Freshman quarterback Micah Alejado, already nursing an ankle injury from the win over Stanford, was sacked four times and finished 18-of-31 for 157 yards with no touchdowns and one interception before leaving the game in the third quarter with an apparent re-aggravation of his right ankle.

With the lopsided result, Hawai‘i dropped to 1-1 on the season. The Rainbow Warriors now return to the drawing board with 10 games remaining on the schedule, starting with Sam Houston this Saturday in Manoa.

Hawaii Football Final premieres every Sunday at 7 p.m. on the KHON+ app, available on Apple TV, Roku and Firestick.

A television rebroadcast can be seen Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. on KHON2.
