The latest episode of Hawaii Football Final, a KHON2 Sports production, recapped the Rainbow Warriors’ bounce-back win over Sam Houston while looking ahead to what’s next on the schedule.
Hosted by KHON2 Sports Director Rob DeMello and analyst Rich Miano, a former University of Hawaii standout and 11-year NFL veteran, the show airs every Sunday at 7 p.m. on the KHON+ app, with a rebroadcast on KHON2 at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays.
UH turned to junior quarterback Luke Weaver, who got the start in place of the injured Micah Alejado. Weaver, a former junior college All-American, delivered in his first opportunity, throwing for 294 yards and three touchdowns despite surrendering a pick-six.
Wide receiver Pofele Ashlock emerged as the top target, hauling in 125 yards and two scores. The Hawaii defense held firm, allowing just one offensive touchdown and 248 total yards while producing a highlight of its own, a pick-six by Giovanni Iovino.
The Rainbow Warriors closed it out with a 37-20 victory, improving to 2-1 on the season and earning a much-needed win without their starting quarterback.
