Hawaii players & coaches earn spots in College Football Playoff

The highly anticipated 12-team College Football Playoff bracket was revealed Sunday, marking the debut of the expanded postseason format.

Among the participating teams, several feature players and coaches with ties to Hawai‘i, showcasing the state’s deep-rooted football talent.

Topping the bracket is No. 1 Oregon, the Big Ten champion, led by a roster that includes seven Hawai‘i-born players, such as Mililani’s Dillon Gabriel, Farrington’s Iapani Laloulu, and five others that list Hawaii as their hometown. The Ducks join No. 2 Georgia, No. 3 Boise State, and No. 4 Arizona State as the top seeds receiving first-round byes.
