Hawaii scores 9 runs in final inning to upset top-seed in Big West Conference Tournament

The 5th-seed Hawaii Rainbow Wahine stunned 1st-seed Cal State Fullerton in the Big West Conference Tournament on Thursday.

The Rainbow Wahine scored 1 run in the first inning to take a quick lead, but the Titans gained all the momentum as they took a 5-1 lead going into the 6th inning.

Hawaii needed to get their bats going late, and they did just that, after cutting the deficit down to 3 in the 6th inning, UH exploded in the 7th inning to score 9 runs for the lead.

The Rainbow Wahine were able to hold on 11-5 to grab the win.

Hawaii advances in the winners bracket and will play their next game on Friday at 10:00am HT against the winner of (2) CSUN and (6) UCSD.
