Hawaii ties in softball NCAA Tournament

The NCAA Division I Tournament selection show for softball was held on Sunday, revealing the field of 64 teams competing for the national championship.

Regionals begin on Thursday.

The 2024 NCAA softball tournament will feature multiple Hawaii ties, including Cal State Fullerton sophomore and Kamehameha alumna Colby McClinton, who was the PacWest Player of the Year at Biola in 2023.

Following the 2023 season, McClinton entered the NCAA transfer portal and landed at CSUF, which won the Big West Conference and will appear in the NCAA Tournament for the third year in a row.

McClinton is one of nine Hawaii ties featured in the NCAA Tournament. The others are below:

Marissa Nishihara, Saint Mary’s (Mid-Pacific)

Jackie Kirkpatrick, Tennessee (former Mililani player)      

Lovey Kepa’a, Grand Canyon (Leilehua)

Sianni Sakai, Utah (Waimea)

Shonty Passi, Utah (Punahou)

Nelly McEnroe-Marinas, Oklahoma (Maryknoll)

Braiesey Rosa, Oregon (Waianae)

Brianna Lopez, Ole Miss (University of Hawaii)
