The University of Hawaii water polo team’s dream 2024 season came to an end with a 9-6 loss to host California in the NCAA Tournament semifinals on Saturday.
Hawaii’s season ends at 23-4, its 11-match win streak snapped at the hands of the Bears (19-6), who will face No. 1 UCLA in Sunday’s championship match.

Bernadette Doyle scored a team-high three goals for Hawaii, which had its opportunities but were undone by a second quarter in which Cal scored six times.
Cal goalkeeper Isabel Williams kept Hawaii at bay with 14 saves.
The end of the 2024 season also marks the end of Maureen Cole’s coaching career after announcing her retirement from UH earlier in the season. She ends her career with a mark of 226-96.
