HONOLULU (KHON2) — A local family is hoping for answers after their loved one apparently went missing in California.
Hannah Kobayashi’s mom and sister said Hannah flew out of Maui on Friday, Nov. 8 and was supposed to arrive in New York on Saturday, Nov. 9 — but Hannah never confirmed that she arrived. Hannah was supposed to get on a connecting flight in Los Angeles but apparently never made it.
Her family believes she left LAX on Saturday and attended an event due to a peculiar post on Hannah’s social media account — though there has been no communication from Hannah since the picture was uploaded.
Hannah’s phone has been off since Monday, Nov. 11 and her family said her last pinned location was at the Los Angeles Airport.
“Yeah, we share location,” said Hannah’s mom, Brandi Yee. “And we know her phone’s off because it goes straight to voicemail. We’ve been trying to call and call and call, text. None of the texts are getting delivered. We can’t locate her phone,” said Hannah’s sister, Sydni Kobayashi.
“We did everything that we could do. And they told us that it would be, it would have to take 48 hours before they could do anything, because she’s not elderly, she’s not mentally off. She’s not under age,” Yee said.
Maui police said the case is outside of their jurisdiction but did confirm that a report was filed with them on the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 13.
