Hawaii women’s volleyball defeats San Diego

The University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team closed out its weekend with a 11-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-20 win over San Diego on Sunday evening.

A Stan Sheriff Center crowd of 4,687 watched as Hawaii, much like its season-opening win over SMU, were routed in a slow first set but ultimately prevailed in four sets.

Caylen Alexander had a match-high 17 kills for UH and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic, which Hawaii won with a 2-0 mark. The junior also added 11 digs for a double-double.

For San Diego, Kennedy Osunsanmi had a team-high 14 kills for the Toreros (0-2).

Hawaii will remain home for a two-match series against Pepperdine, which begins on Friday at 7 p.m.
