Following his flawless relief appearance against Cal State Northridge, University of Hawaii junior Alex Giroux was named the Big West Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
Giroux pitched five perfect innings to close out a 3-2 series-opening win, getting the final 15 outs in order. He also recorded eight strikeouts, six of which came consecutively.

Hawaii ended up sweeping CSUN, which entered town on a nine-game winning streak and tied atop the conference standings.
The Rainbow Warriors (29-15, 12-9 Big West Conference) are currently on an eight-game winning streak, tied for the longest of the Rich Hill era. The ‘Bows will host UC Riverside this week in a three-game series taking place on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. No game will be held on Saturday due to spring commencement at UH-Manoa.
