After her legendary collegiate softball career, which included the NCAA’s all-time home runs record, Hauula native and Campbell alumna Jocelyn Alo has continued to thrive on multiple diamonds.
Earlier in the spring, she joined the Savannah Bananas for the team’s annual tour of the country, showing her mettle with a baseball bat.

Still considered one of the top softball players in the world, Alo is currently playing with the United States national team in preparation for the sport’s return in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. The 2024 Games in Paris will not sponsor softball or baseball.
“I’m definitely living the dream and sometimes it does get to be a lot,” she told KHON2 sports director Rob DeMello. “But I think what keeps me coming back is just the competitive aspect and I love to just compete, so I’m just going to soak it up while I have it and while I love it and just continue to pass the torch to the next generation of softball players, next generation of Hawaii girls. You know, I’m so blessed. This is the best life.
“I hope that I continue to be that inspiration because I am a product of great things like this can happen. So, I hope that little girl is working hard and getting all the swings that she can, getting all the defensive runs that she can. And I hope that at the end of the day that she just believes in herself and she actually knows that she can do this. And I just believe that was destined for greatness, to be honest. So I hope that girl who’s working hard out there is believing in that, too.”
Alo and Team USA are set to embark on a trip to Japan from July 4 to 7, with games taking place in three different cities in Japan.
