Hawaii’s James Robinson named top water polo assistant coach

New University of Hawaii water polo head coach James Robinson was named the nation’s top assistant coach for 2024 by the Association of College Water Polo Coaches.

Robinson was an assistant for the Rainbow Wahine for the 2024 season, where the Rainbow Wahine went 23-4 before falling to California in the NCAA Tournament semifinals.

Last November, former UH coach Maureen Cole announced that the 2024 season would be her last, with Robinson selected as her successor.

Hawaii will look like a different team in 2025. In addition to Cole’s retirement, star player Bia Mantellato Dias departed in favor of UCLA.
