HONOLULU (KHON2) — Officials from the Department of Transportation are warning Halawa residents of the upcoming annual emergency training exercise for the Honolulu Skyrail, including simulated gunfire.
On Tuesday, the City and County of Honolulu will host multiple first responder agencies at the Halawa Aloha Stadium Skyline station.
Officials said the exercise will be similar to the Kualakai East Kapolei Station event in 2022. The station will be shut down from 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. after the end of passenger service to run the simulation.
First responders attending the training scenario include TheBus, TheHandi-Van, HFD, HPD, and EMS vehicles.
Anyone who may see these vehicles should not be alarmed and are advised to focus on the road while the training is taking place.
Drivers, residents and public transit riders should expect increased traffic congestion, noise and first responder activity in the immediate area.
Training will be closed to the general public. The station is expected to resume passenger service at 5 a.m. on Wednesday.
