KIHEI, Hawaii (KHON2) — A 61-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of negligent homicide for a crash that killed a woman in Kihei on Thursday.
Sixty-four-year-old Irene Kauffold was on the sidewalk when a vehicle turned out of a parking lot, climbed the curb onto the sidewalk and collided into her.
She died at the hospital from critical injuries due to the collision.
Through investigation, MPD was able to locate and arrest the suspect on Friday evening.
The man was also operating a vehicle after his license had been suspended or revoked for driving under the influence of an intoxicant, he also had four unrelated outstanding warrants.
He remains in custody, as of Saturday afternoon.
