HONOLULU (KHON2) — Amazon, the company which provides quick shipping and delivery services, is prepping for the holiday rush by hiring more workers on Oʻahu.
Across the U.S., Amazon intends to hire 250,000 employees for the holidays.
The focus for hiring in Hawaiʻi is at Amazon’s Oʻahu delivery station on Sand Island.
“Amazon currently employs more than 1,000 full- and part-time workers in Hawaiʻi and supports over 1,500 additional indirect jobs statewide in 2024 through its operations and partnerships,” said Amazon in a press release.
Seasonal roles have flexible schedules and the possibility of becoming long-term positions. The starting pay for seasonal Amazon workers averages above $19 per hour.
Those who are regular Amazon employees, including part-time workers, earn an average of $23 per hour. They’re compensated more than $30 per hour with benefits included.
As part of their benefits, employees can receive pre-paid tuition for degrees, certifications and technical training at local education institutes, including Honolulu Community College and the University of Hawaiʻi–West Oʻahu, through Amazon’s Career Choice Program.
