Honolulu advances to Little League west region final

he Honolulu Little League team is one win away from a return trip to Williamsport.

In a dramatic extra-innings showdown, Honolulu defeated Menlo Park (CA), 4-3, on Monday in the Major Division Little League Baseball West Regional Tournament to advance to the championship game.

Tied at 3 in the bottom of the eighth, and following several defensive gems that kept the game knotted, Mason Mitani, the game’s winning pitcher, scored the walk-off run on a passed ball to seal the victory.

With the win, Honolulu advances to Thursday’s regional final and moves within one game of the Little League World Series.

The program is led by two-time World Series championship manager Gerald Oda, who continues to guide the Hawai‘i power on another postseason run.

The regional final is scheduled for Thursday at 3 p.m. HST and will be televised nationally on ESPN.
