Honolulu City Council elects Councilmember Matt Weyer to be Vice Chair

Councilmember Matt Weyer was elected as the Vice Chair of the Honolulu City Council with strong support from the council at the Jan. 2 City Council inauguration.

Weyer was first elected to the council in 2023, representing Waikele, Kunia, Wahiawa and the entire North Shore to Kahaluʻu. Before serving as a councilmember, he was a domestic violence prosecutor and served as a planner with the City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Community Services.

“I am honored and humbled to have been elected as the Vice Chair of the Honolulu City Council,” Weyer said. “Together, we will focus on improving the quality of life for all Honolulu residents, creating sustainable solutions for our future and making sure that all voices are heard in every decision we make.”
