HONOLULU (KHON2) — The holiday season in Honolulu officially kicks off as the 40th Annual Honolulu City Lights takes center stage starting Saturday, December 7.
WakeUp2Day’s Chris Latronic gave viewers a preview live from Honolulu Hale, where new additions to the festival are sure to make this year’s event extra special.
Friends of Honolulu City Lights and Mike Gangloff of Show Aloha Land have brought in new decorations, including 250 feet of lighted tunnels, fifty illuminated trees, a keiki train ride, and festive motifs at the Fasi Grounds.
The event is free and will take place at Honolulu Hale and the Frank F. Fasi Civic Grounds.
Festivities begin with:
4 p.m. for the Block Party with line-up of great local performers (more details to come soon!)
6 p.m. Honolulu City Lights Opening Ceremony begins with a performance from Raiatea Helm and Friends
6:15 p.m. Public Workers’ Electric Light Parade begins at ʻAʻala Park, traveling along S. King Street
6:30 p.m. Mayor Blangiardi will illuminate the holiday tree out front of Honolulu Hale
7:30 p.m. Sky Gate Holiday Music
With large crowds expected, especially on December 7, attendees should anticipate road closures along S. King Street for the parade.
