HONOLULU (KHON2) — Orange, blue and white will soon light up the Honolulu city’s night to commemorate some of our island’s first responders.
Under the direction of Mayor Rick Blangiardi, Honolulu Hale will be lit in the colors of City ambulances from sundown to sunrise in honor of National EMS week.
Beginning Sunday, May 19 and ending Saturday, May 25, the lights will grace the city sky to honor Honolulu Emergency Medical Services, along with events such as a promotional ceremony and a civilian responder recognition.
This year’s theme is “Honoring Our Past, Forging Our Future.”
This year marks the 50th National EMS Week and is to remind us of the proud history and contributions of EMS practitioners over the decades.
This week, across the country, we take pause to truly reflect on the incredible, life-saving work our Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians do, day in and day out. Every day they come to work they provide our community with the highest level of pre-hospital emergency medicine
Director of the Honolulu Emergency Medical Services Jim Ireland
