The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Parks and Recreation is on the search for members of their prestigious Lei Court.
The 2025 court will consist of applicants between the ages of 31 and 45 on the day of the 2025 Lei Court Selection, scheduled for March 1.
The selection will occur at 9 a.m. at Kapolei Hale, and consist of applicants displaying their lei-making skills, hula, public speaking in English and Hawaiian and more.
After the demonstrations, a lei king and queen will be crowned, alongside princes and princesses. This royal court will represent the City and County of Honolulu in an honorary capacity at several events throughout the year, with the Lei Day Celebration being the most important.
The 97th annual Lei Day Celebration will be on May 1 at Kapiʻolani Park from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Department of Parks and Recreation will provide free lei-making workshops in preparation for the event.
Applications must be received or postmarked by Jan. 31. For more information on Lei Court, contact Samantha Sun at (808) 768-3032 or visit the application online.
