HONOLULU (KHON2) — 50% plus one vote. That’s the target tonight for the campaign of Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi.
If they hit that mark, they’ll be able to bypass the general election and focus on the work here in the City and County. Blangiardi is running against three other candidates.
When interviewed earlier on Saturday, Mayor Blangiardi was full of energy and joy, riding around town on a trolley and greeting some of his sign wavers.
He said he inherited a time with a lot of pain and tragedy and moving forward, he wants to give people hope.
So tonight is one of those moments where hopefully the public sees that they respond accordingly at the polls. We’ll find out later tonight. But we’re really looking really good. Well, you know, we’d like to win in the primary. I’m not going to be coy about that. We’ve said that all along. And if we can do that, it will allow us to get on with business and not have to deal with the campaign for the next several months.
Mayor Rick Blangiardi
Mayor Blangiardi will arrive to Downtown Honolulu between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. near the time where we will see if his three opponents Duke Burgoin, Karl Dicks and Choon Hames can force a general election.
