“We’ve kicked off our Happy HOLO Days campaign, similar to last year,” said Department of Transportation Services information specialist Travis Ota. “We have a special limited edition holiday HOLO card for those last-minute stocking stuffers.”

Riders can get the cards, which come with $20 preloaded for a cost of $2 ($22 total in value), at the Transit Pass Office in Kalihi, and all nine Satellite City Hall locations across Oahu. The popular cards are available while supplies last.

“Not only do HOLO cards make great gifts for the office, friends, or family, but it helps promote the idea of public transportation. Driving during the holidays can get really hectic and expensive, so consider gifting the gift of public transit to those that may need it,” Honolulu public information officer Brandi Higa said.

Higa also points out that public transportation can serve as a convenient and safe designated driver after holiday celebrations.

“We simply want to remind folks out there to please travel with aloha. The holidays can lead to lots of roadway congestion, so please take travel time into consideration. Leave early. Don’t rush. Focus on the roadways. Let’s please slow down and calm down when behind the wheel. We want everyone to be able to come home safely for Christmas and New Years. Please remember that you are not the only ones on the road.”
