HONOLULU (KHON2) — Labor Day weekend on Oʻahu is a fun time. With lots of festivals and events, there are many options to make the weekend a great way to bond with friends and family.
Here are some of the events that will be taking place through Monday, Sept. 1.
Sports and entertainment highlights
Hawaiian Airlines Wāhine Volleyball Classic is taking place Aug. 29–31
Cheer on the Rainbow Wāhine as they take the court in this season-opening tournament featuring matchups against Marquette, Utah State and San Diego. Tickets are affordable and range from $6–$28, depending on age and seating.

The ‘Ewa Carnival is taking place Aug. 30–31 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Enjoy classic fair vibes with thrilling rides, carnival games, food trucks and live music on the Wai Kai Event Lawn, ‘Ewa Beach.

Okinawan Festival
One of the biggest cultural celebrations in Hawaiʻi featuring taiko performances, hula, Okinawan food, artisan displays and activities for families.

Hawaiʻi Swim Show is taking place Aug. 30-31.
A dynamic display of swimwear fashion, artistry and entertainment. It’s perfect for fans of style and glam. This fashion show focuses on inclusion and representation and features the islands’ hottest designers.

Sunset on the Beach Free Movie Night
Watch Wicked under the stars in a magical beachfront setting. Is there any better way to enjoy Waikīkī Beach and a movie? The screening begins at 4:15 p.m.

Swim with the Princesses & Dive’n’Movie Matinee
Come swim and take pictures with 14 storybook princesses at Wet’n’Wild Hawaii on Saturday, Aug. 30. In addition, your family and friends can enjoy a special showing of Encanto! The event is free with a season pass, and there’s a special deal to get unlimited park visits through 2026.

Poi Supper at ‘Iolani Palace

Free Waikīkī Friday Night Fireworks Show (Aug 29)
Kick off the weekend with colorful fireworks lighting up the Waikīkī sky. The Friday night fireworks show at Waikīkī launches from the Hilton Hawaiian Village beach area and can be seen around Waikīkī, but the show may be canceled if it rains.

Two great events are taking place at Wet’n’Wild, where they tout being a great family destination with lively entertainment and activities.
