HONOLULU (KHON2) — Hurricane season is fast approaching and NOAAʻs Central Pacific Hurricane Center is announcing their hurricane prediction and tropical activity Tuesday morning.
Last yearʻs prediction was “near or above normal” due to 2023 being an El Niño year. The CPHC predicted four to seven tropical cyclones last June for the 2023 hurricane season and the Central Pacific region did end up seeing four cyclones.
This year is expected to be a La Niña year, with its onset predicted to begin some time between July and September.
According to Nexstar, NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center this week showed weather is likely to heat up in almost every corner of the United States.
