HONOLULU (KHON2) — With traffic fatalities on the rise, police are reminding drivers that all crashes are preventable.
According to the state Department of Transportation 24 people have died in traffic accidents across Hawaii so far, nearly double the 13 fatalities reported at this time last year.
Police are emphasizing the importance of simple safety measures to help reduce crashes.
Some examples include:
- watching your speed
- obeying traffic laws
- wearing your seatbelt
- never driving under the influence
Authorities stress that keeping roads safe is a shared responsibility for all drivers.
