KAHUKU (KHON2) — HPD is investigating a hit-and-run that left a man in serious condition last night, Nov. 1, in the Kahuku area.
Around 7:45 p.m., the pedestrian, a 38-year-old male, was walking across the road on Kamehameha Hwy.
The driver was going eastbound on Kamehameha Hwy. near Burroughs Rd. when he hit the pedestrian who was reported to be walking outside of the marked crosswalk at the time of the collision, HPD said.
The driver, who is still unidentified, continued heading east, not stopping to help the victim or provide any information, reports said.
EMS arrived at the scene to provide the pedestrian with life-saving treatment for serious injuries, including a head injury. He was then transported to an emergency room for additional care.
The investigation into the hit-and-run is ongoing and it still has not been determined if speed, alcohol, or drugs were involved.
