HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Honolulu Police Department has introduced a new online page for its Public Affairs Office.
The page — which went live on Tuesday, Sept. 9 — is designed to make it easier for the public and media to find information in one place.
The webpage gathers resources that were once spread across different areas of HPD’s website with the goal of improving access and increasing trust between the department and the community.
“Our Public Affairs Office was built with a simple but powerful goal—to strengthen trust,” said HPD Communications Director Claudette Springer. “This new online hub reflects our commitment to speak with purpose, communicate with transparency and ensure every message reflects the humanity and accountability that defines HPD’s mission. Whether it’s a public safety update, a community campaign, or a critical incident, we want the media and public to have a clear and reliable connection to our department. Every message matters—and we’re here to make sure it reaches the heart of the people we serve.”
The new page features four main tools:
- The Criminal Highlights section shows key cases from the past 72 hours.
- Traffic Information reports on critical and fatal crashes.
- A Calls for Service log records 24 hours of police responses.
- News Releases and Press Conferences are stored in a searchable archive, with video available in one location.
“We’re excited to provide quick access to this information to our partners in local media,” said Interim Chief of Police Rade Vanic. “We truly appreciate them helping us get important information out there, and we’re eager to find more efficient ways to work together.”

HPD leaders, including Interim Deputy Chiefs Aaron Takasaki-Young and Ryan Nishibun, said the page is part of a wider effort to keep the community informed with timely updates.
