HONOLULU (KHON2) — Charges have been re-filed against a Honolulu police officer who was previously arrested for driving under the influence.
In September, off-duty officer Mariah Ahtou was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Earlier this week, a judge dismissed the case citing a violation of her right to a speedy trial, as argued by her attorney.
However, the dismissal was executed in a manner permitting prosecutors to re-file the charge, a step they have taken today.
The Honolulu Police Department has stated that Ahtou remains on restricted duty pending an administrative review.
