Information needed on HVNP hit-and-run, bicyclist left with severe injuries

HAWAII NATIONAL PARK, Hawaii (KHON2) — Law enforcement officials are searching for those who may have witnessed a hit-and-run incident at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on Tuesday, Dec. 3.

The incident happened at the intersection of Highway 11 and the road to Namakanipaio Campground at approximately 9:20 a.m.

A 70-year-old male bicyclist from Volcano was left with severe injuries after being struck by a gold-colored sedan.

“National Park Service law enforcement officers have launched an investigation and urge anyone with information to come forward,” said the park in a news release.
