On October 17, the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) reported the discovery of a decapitated cat floating in the water.

On Tuesday, the bodies of seven additional cats, each with suspicious injuries, were found nearby.

Officials noted that many of the deceased cats were located next to piles of food on the ground.

The DLNR reminds the public that feeding animals at small boat harbors is illegal.
