HONOLULU (KHON2) — Well, easy in that you’ll need to drive… a lot.
DoorDash is doing a big promotion in Honolulu right now. Actually, the time to sign up ends tomorrow, Wednesday, April 24.
Dashers, this is for you. The deal is that if you are able to do 270 deliveries in Honolulu within 60 days, then you will receive a $600 bonus.
DoorDash is a technology company that connects people with delivery service opportunities in their cities.
Primarily, it operates as an online food ordering and delivery platform, which allows customers to order food from local restaurants and have it delivered to their doorstep. The service uses a network of contracted drivers, known as “Dashers”, who use their own vehicles to pick up and deliver orders.
The company was founded in 2013 and has expanded to include not only food delivery from restaurants but also the delivery of groceries and other items.
The platform is available via a mobile app and website, where users can browse a variety of local businesses, place orders and track deliveries in real-time. DoorDash is one of the leading delivery services in Hawaii.
For those working with DoorDash as Dashers, they have the ability to decide when, where and how much they are going to work. This allows you to work on your schedule and forget about reporting to an office or a boss.
KHON2.com was able to catch up with a local resident of Kailua who has become a Dasher.
“I have just signed up to do DoorDash a month ago because a friend of mine sent me a referral link,” explained Olga Ross, local resident. “I like the sign-up bonus. I used to drive Uber but after the pandemic, I prefer not driving many people every day but instead picking up and delivering with DoorDash. “
DoorDash explained that drivers are able to choose whether or not to accept offers, find demand near their preferred area and earn more instantly with promotions like Challenges and Peak Pay in the Dasher app.
“I can also take my boyfriend with me and it’s more efficient and fun that way,” explained Ross. “He drives. I hop out, grab the food and hop back in. No parking needed.”
DoorDash said that peace of mind while dashing is essential. This peace of mind includes knowing that you can easily get help when you need it. This is why the business has created a safety toolkit.
This toolkit helps Dashers engage with the business opportunity in a safer context, allowing every delivery to go smoothly regardless of what happens.
“I can make about $300 per weekend working only about five hours total during lunch or dinner times,” added Ross. “You can Dash anytime you want. It’s a great side job opportunity with extremely flexible hours. So why not?”

Ross went on to explain that being a Dasher is a great way to supplement income. It’s especially fun if you have someone to share the experience with.
