Kaimuki Park transformed, local volunteers lead cleanup

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Kaimuki Business and Professional Association (KBPA) orchestrated a community cleanup at Kaimuki Community Park on Saturday, May 25, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

KBPA assumed responsibility for Kaimuki Community Park through the Parks and Recreation Department’s Adopt-a-Park program.

Volunteers from the community engaged in various tasks such as litter collection, leaf raking, graffiti removal, and tidying the pickleball and tennis courts area.

KBPA President Calvin Hara emphasized the significance of community backing in enhancing Kaimuki’s environment for business operations, residential living, and outdoor recreational activities, particularly within Kaimuki Community Park.


Celebrate summer’s arrival with thrills and delights

The volunteer cohort comprised individuals from diverse entities, including employees of Territorial Savings Bank, members of Kaimuki Epiphany Episcopal Church, and participants from Boy Scouts Troop 82, along with troop leaders and parents.

Notable elected officials who participated in the cleanup effort included Representative Jackson Sayama, Council Chair Tommy Waters, and Councilmember Calvin Say.

Hara reiterated that committed community volunteers, invested in enhancing their surroundings, contribute to an improved quality of life for all residents, spanning from keikI to kupuna.
