According to HDOT, the bridge has sustained damage to supportive structures on the bridge, with affected areas needing replacement so cars may traverse the bridge safely.
The bridge will see a full closure on June 3 from 8 p.m. until 6:30 a.m. the following day. If additional work is needed, then the bridge will also be closed on June 4 from 8 p.m. until 6:30 a.m. the next day.
Steel plates will be placed over affected areas as a temporary fix until crews are able to properly secure the bridge’s infrastructure.
During the bridge’s closure, traffic will be directed to the mauka Wailua Bridge, with one lane going northbound and another going southbound.
