KAUAI, Hawaii (KHON2) — Kauaʻi County swore in new County Attorney Tyler Saito on Nov. 3, Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami said.
Saito’s term as county attorney is effective immediately following his swearing in. He was confirmed for the position by the Kauaʻi County Council.
“Tyler has consistently demonstrated professionalism, integrity and a deep understanding of the law,” Kawakami said. “His experience across both litigation and advisory work makes him exceptionally well-suited to lead the Office of the County Attorney into its next chapter.”
Prior to his new county attorney position, Saito served as the First Deputy County Attorney. Throughout his tenure as deputy attorney, Saito worked with multiple county departments such as the Department of Water.
Saito earned his law credentials from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and attended Parker School on the Big Island.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be the next county attorney,” Saito said. “I look forward to continuing to serve the people of Kauaʻi in this role by providing sound advice and counsel to the county and its many dedicated public servants, who work diligently for the Kauaʻi community each day.”
Saito succeeded outgoing County Attorney Matthew Bracken, who performed in that role for seven years.
