Kauai officials respond to another brush fire, road closure in effect

KAPAA, Hawaii (KHON2) — Kauai officials are responding to a brush fire in the Kapaʻa area.

KPD have closed Kapaʻa Bypass at both North and South entrances. DOT said the northbound lane between Kuhio Highway and Olohena is open.

This is the second brush fire in just over 24 hours on Kauai.


Hanapepe brush fire 60% contained, 1,000 acres burned

A brush fire between Hanapepe and Kaumakani Monday scorched 1,100 acres and was 100% contained by Midnight.

The KIUC implemented a de-energization in the affected areas and restored power shortly after 3 a.m. Tuesday.

No homes were destroyed and no injuries were reported.

Officials ask that the public not call 911 for updates but instead call (808) 241-1725.
