Kauai’s unique, sustainable culinary series with Bravo’s Top Chef Lee Anne Wong

KAUAI, Hawaii (KHON2) — Take a look at a sustainable culinary series that’s a collaboration between guest chefs and the 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay culinary team to highlight unique culinary styles with Kauai’s seasonal ingredients.

Here’s the schedule for next weekend:

  • Dec. 13 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.: Sustainable Wine Pairing with fresh herbs from the hotel’s organic rooftop garden. $250.
  • Dec. 14 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.: Three-course Charity Dinner with optional wine pairing benefiting the Kauai Community College Culinary Arts Program. Starting at $225.
  • Dec. 15 from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.: Dumpling Cooking Demo with signed copy of cookbook. $250.

According to Guest Chef Lee Anne Wong from Bravo’s Top Chef, the experience called “Chefs by Nature” celebrates Kauai and Hawaii’s local food producers and suppliers.

It supports Kauai’s pipeline of culinary talent through a partnership with Kauai Community College Culinary Arts Program, offering scholarship and mentorship opportunities to students.

Chef Wong said 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay is Hawaii’s mission-driven sustainable resort on Kauai’s north shore.

By prioritizing locally sourced ingredients and sharing the importance to community, visitors and guests are motivated to embrace a lifelong sustainable lifestyle.

She added that all six restaurants and bars are certified Ocean Friendly Restaurants by the Surfrider Foundation.

Menus reflect hotel’s commitment to health, such as hyper-local ingredients and zero and low ABV cocktails. Outlets also utilize the rooftop organic garden with native canoe crops, herbs and citrus trees.
