HONOLULU (KHON2) — Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii erupted again on Monday evening with lava fountains reaching more than 200 feet high by 6:50 p.m.
The eruption began around 6:26 p.m. and saw lava spattering onto the caldera floor through the north vent’s spillway.
The lava flow has already covered 10-15% of the floor of Halemaʻumaʻu, with the intensity of the eruption continuing to increase.
Since the eruption started, the volcano has shown a slight inflationary tilt, with a measurement just under 7 microradians.
This marks the 11th episode of Halemaʻumaʻu’s ongoing eruption, which has been active since December 23, 2024.
Past eruptions have lasted from 13 hours to 8 days, with pauses in between that range from less than 24 hours to about 12 days.
Kīlauea’s Volcano Alert Level remains at WATCH, and the Aviation Color Code is ORANGE. All activity is confined to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
