HONOLULU (KHON2) — Families headed to Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa, to attend the 8th annual Ko Olina Children’s Festival, raising $60,000 for Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children.
The festival was inspired by Disney Pixar’s “A Bug’s Life” and was held right on the beach fronting Aulani.
Keiki were invited to participate in bug-themed booths and activities, including a cockroach race hosted by the University of Hawaii entomology team.
In addition, families watched the featured film on the beach at sunset and danced with Mickey and Stitch during the Aulani Ohana Hula Show.
This year, the funds raised will go directly to Kapiolani’s new Martha B. Smith Cancer and Infusion Center. According to Hawaii Pacific Health, the new center will be completed by late 2026 and will provide cancer care for some of the most complex diseases and conditions.

To finish the night, everyone came together to watch Kapiolani’s 2024 CMN Champion, Leila-Rose Coloma, and her family take the stage to share her story.
