According to a spokesperson for the team, the decision comes as part of strategic considerations, including local market dynamics and community needs.

All prescriptions currently filled at the location will be transferred to the nearby Longs Drugs at 91-1404 Fort Weaver Rd., approximately a mile and a half away, to ensure uninterrupted access to pharmacy services for patients.

Patients also have the option to transfer prescriptions to any other Longs Drugs location or pharmacy of their choice.

Employees affected by the closure are being offered comparable roles within the company.

“While the decision to close a store is never easy, we are focused on maintaining access to pharmacy care in the communities we serve,” stated the spokesperson for Longs Drugs.

In addition to the existing store at 91-404 Fort Weaver Rd., Longs Drugs recently opened a new location at 91-5480 Kapolei Parkway in Kapolei, offering convenient amenities such as a pharmacy drive-thru, photo lab, and expanded health and wellness products.

The company has also invested $17.3 million in partnership with The Kobayashi Group, The Ahe Group, and CREA, LLC to develop a new 169-unit affordable housing complex in Parkway Village at Kapolei.
